Progress Update – 12/31/2017 – New acheivements after a long break

If you’re new to ExitYoung.com, Welcome! We started this blog August 2016 after The Revelation, deciding on The Mission, and starting this site.  We post when time allows about the journey, personal finance, and miscellaneous musings in the Posts section.  We have a toddler and full time jobs so time has been a little sparse lately, but this is a new year and I resolve to post a little more frequently. Winding down to year end we hit a new […]

Progress Update – 7/22/2017 – 3 Alternative Investments

If you’re new to ExitYoung.com, Welcome!  We started this blog August 2016 after The Revelation, deciding on The Mission, and starting this site.  We post regularly about the journey, personal finance, and miscellaneous musings in the Posts section. We had been posting our financial goal progress monthly, but as that doesn’t change in interesting ways each month we’ve scaled back to quarterly and for the big events. We didn’t hit any new milestone, but we are up again since the last update, mostly attributable to […]

Progress Update – 9/22/16

Since we made our exit young decision on the 22nd and we’re targeting retirement on 2/22/21, I though I would continue to provide updates as of the 22nd of each month.  It will take a few days to get updated spending data and gather thoughts on that data so we’ll post a few days later typically. I’ve seen a lot of praise for PersonalCaptial.com so I thought I would check it out.  I’ve been a Quicken user for years, since […]

The Mission

Since we were married, Mrs. ExitYoung and I would occasionally look at budgets and discuss income, spending, retirement.  What do we want to do when we retire?  Travel the world of course.  Isn’t that what people do when they retire after all?  Ok so we need $100 to $150k+ per year in retirement.  That’s somewhere from $4 million to $5 million to get there safely right?  4 percent rule be darned (I’ll get more into this later).  Our retirement planning was […]
